Dora Pejačević - Symphony in F sharp minor

Dora Pejačević - Symphony in F sharp minor, Op. 41 (1918)

Symphony in F sharp minor, Op. 41 (1918) I. Andante maestoso - Allegro con moto [0:00] II. Andante sostenuto [16:04] III. Scherzo: Molto allegro [29:02] IV. Allegro appassionato [37:15] An orchestral work by Croatian composer Dora Pejačević (1885-1923). The daughter of the Croatian ban (governor) Theodor Pejačević, Dora Pejačević began her musical career as a soloist on the piano and violin, often performing her own compositions at drawing-room events. Eventually, interest in her music grew and her oeuvre expanded to 57 catalogued works by 1923, including one Symphony. Pejačević composed the work between 1916 and 1917, and along with Frank Lučić's 1917 symphony, it is the first musical work in the form by a Croatian. Her success as a composer culminated in the 1918 premiere of two movements of her symphony by the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich under the baton of Oskar Nedbal. Soon after, Pejačević made some changes to the work and the premiere of the full symphony in its revised edition was given in Dresden two years later. Conductor: Ari Rasilainen Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz
